A revolution, tweet by tweet
Do a search on Twitter for “libya” and you can read a horror unfolding minute by minute. Hundreds of people are being massacred as the Gadhafi regime clings to power in the face of mounting protests by thousands of people.
As I type this, the latest reports have jets dropping bombs on protesters. Last night there were reports of mercenaries — brought in from other African countries — shooting people in the head.
Libya’s ambassadors abroad are defecting, and rumors are rampant that Gadhafi has fled to Venezuela.
Every minute, dozens of new tweets appear. This may be the closest we can get to watching a revolution develop before our eyes.
