Goodbye Internet Explorer, hello Firefox and Chrome
Maybe you remember the days when Internet Explorer was so dominant that websites would often ignore the other browsers. If you didn’t have IE, you were out of luck for special features.
Those days are over now — even here in River City. The latest stats for The Daily News show that the percentage of visitors using IE is just barely in the majority, and is on its way down.
It was 55.25 per cent for the week of Aug. 8-14 — a dip of 0.50 per cent from the previous week. The winners are Firefox with a gain of 1.24 per cent and Chrome with a boost of 5.27 per cent. My favourite, Safari, dropped by 1.74 per cent, but I prefer to think of this as a glitch.
