Have Pulse and WSJ found a way to get us to pay for news?
I haven’t looked at Pulse in awhile, so I was pleasantly surprised by some of the changes in this news aggregator for iPad and iPhone.
The interface is about the same for going through various news sources and selecting a story. But adding sources has become easier and more intuitive. The big change is the addition of “premium” content from the Wall Street Journal. The WSJ offers general news, technology and business article feeds in the same way as all the others, but with the exception that you have to pay 99 cents a month for the privilege.
You can bet other publishers are keeping a close eye on how this experiment works out. Ever hungry for new revenue streams, they’ll jump on the bandwagon at the first sign of a cash flow.
