Pinning some hopes on Pinterest
I put the Kamloops Daily News on Pinterest a couple of weeks ago, and already we’re getting some followers, likes and repins. It remains to be seen how big a deal this will be, but it’s a good experiment in learning what kind of stories Pinterest people like the most.
One picture that was repinned today — minutes after it was posted — featured a picture of a young woman with her pottery. I was immediately reminded of the Pinterest demographics — younger women who like nice things. The pottery is indeed quite nice.
Still, other pins that were liked or repinned didn’t seem to fit the demographic at all. We’ll have to keep an eye on things to see if there are any trends. Meanwhile, it’s kinda cool to be one of the few newspapers in Canada to even have a Pinterest board.
