Turning inner space into outer space

A blog that takes a chance on collaboration

Hundreds of people have put in a lot of time and effort into creating documents about the future of South Kamloops secondary school. And they’ve put those documents on the Web so that you can not only read them, but mess around with them while you’re at it.

That’s what it means to collaborate. You get a say in the final wording of everything from the SKSS Communication Protocol to the school’s Technology Goal.

Head over to SKSS SIP 2011-2014 Collaborative Blog to have a look. SIP, by the way, stand for School Improvement Plan.

Staff, students, parents, and school community have been working on it for eight months. By publishing their documents online in the form of Google Docs, they are in essence allowing anyone to make amendments or contributions as they see fit. It’s a gutsy move, but definitely worth the risk to have community input.
